Abstract (en)
A method for delignifying ligno-cellulosic materials and efficiently separate from each other the constituents thereof. Said materials which optionally may be prehydrolized are heated in an aqueous acid medium in the presence of phenol compounds whereby the ratio by weight of liquid to solid is at least 0,5. In the case of low liquid solid ratios i.e. below about 4:1 further aqueous liquid is added to the reaction mass after pulping to aid filtration and draining. After isolating the purified solid cellulose pulp, the liquid phase separates into two layers: an aqueous layer rich with pentoses and an organic layer rich with phenols and lignin, the latter providing, by distillation and pyrolysis of the residue, a quantity of phenols at least equal to that of the phenols used in the delignification stage.

Procédé pour délignifier des matières ligno-cellulosiques et effectuer une séparation efficace de ses constituants. On chauffe ces matières éventuellement préhydrolysées aqueux en présence de composés phénoliques avec un rapport en poids de liquides à solides d'au moins 0,5. Dans le cas des rapports liquide/solide plutôt bas, p. ex. au-dessous d'environ 4:1, un surplus de liquide aqueux est ajouté à la masse réactionelle après chauffage de façon à améliorer la filtration et l'essorage. Après isolation de la pâte cellulosique purifiée, le liquide filtré se séparant en deux couches: une couche aqueuse riche en pentoses et une couche organique riche en phénols et en lignine, cette dernière fournissant par distillation et pyrolyse du résidu une quantité de phénols au moins égale à celle des phénols utilisés dans l'étape de délignification.
