[origin: EP0082257A2] For fastening an accessory 10, in particular an optical one, to a firearm barrel 1, there is a carrier 3 consisting of a ring 4 surrounding the barrel 1 and of a baseplate 5 connected to this and arranged in a plane parallel to the longitudinal axis 11 of the barrel. The ring 4 can be screwed onto the barrel 1 and fastened by means of clamping screws 6 in such a way that the carrier 3 withstands all firing loads, without changing its position on the barrel 1. The clamping screws 6 are secured by a retaining plate 7 having extensions projecting on one side, in that the extensions of the retaining plate 7 engage into the clamping screws 6 designed as hexagon-socket screws. <IMAGE>
