The present device serves for applying a strip-shaped lacquer layer onto the connection seam (2) on the inside of a can body (1) open at its two ends. The said device has an application wheel (27) which dips into a lacquer bath and which is provided on its circumferential surface (33) with grooves (34) which are arranged inclined at an angle ( delta ) with respect to the axis of rotation (30') of the application roller (27). In a preferred embodiment, the angle ( delta ) is 90 DEG , i.e. the grooves are arranged in the circumferential direction of the application wheel (27). In a different embodiment, the grooves (34) are arranged in a helical line shape. <IMAGE>

Die vorliegende Vorrichtung dient zum Aufbringen einer streifenförmigen Lackschicht auf die Verbindungsnaht (2) an der Innenseite eines an beiden Enden offenen Dosenrumpfes (1). Sie besitzt ein Auftragsrad (27), das in ein Lackbad eintaucht und das an seiner Umfangsfläche (33) mit Rillen (34) versehen ist, die unter einem Winkel (δ) gegen die Drehachse (30') der Auftragsrolle (27) geneigt angeordnet sind. Bei einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform beträgt der Winkel (δ) 90°, d. h. die Rillen sind in Umfangsrichtung des Auftragsrades (27) angeordnet. Bei einer anderen Ausführungsform sind die Rillen (34) schraubenlinienförmig angeordnet.
