[origin: EP0082423A2] The present device serves for applying a strip-shaped lacquer layer onto the connection seam (2) on the inside of a can body (1) open at its two ends. The said device has an application wheel (27) which dips into a lacquer bath and which is provided on its circumferential surface (33) with grooves (34) which are arranged inclined at an angle ( delta ) with respect to the axis of rotation (30') of the application roller (27). In a preferred embodiment, the angle ( delta ) is 90 DEG , i.e. the grooves are arranged in the circumferential direction of the application wheel (27). In a different embodiment, the grooves (34) are arranged in a helical line shape. <IMAGE>
