[origin: US4498318A] Apparatus for supplying foam from the outlet of a continuously operated foam generator to a consumer which applies the liquid fraction of the foam to a substrate has a conduit which receives foam from the outlet and contains a storing device serving to take up the surplus of foam when the requirements of the consumer are less than the output of the foam generator and to satisfy the requirements of the consumer when such requirements exceed the output of the foam generator. The storing device contains a compensating device which ensures that the pressure of foam in the interior of the storing device is substantially constant, and such compensating device (which may consist of a reciprocable piston and a hollow piston rod receiving foam from the foam generator) can actuate a monitoring device which regulates the operation of the foam generator, of a pump which is installed between the foam generator and the storing device and/or a valve which can divert foam into a collecting receptacle. Movements of the piston in a direction to allow for an increase of the effective volume of the storing device are opposed by a cushion of compressed gas, and such movements are assisted by a weight which is attached to the piston rod.

Bei der Vorrichtung zum Zuführen von Schaum zu einem Abnehmer, insbesondere einem diskontinuierlichen oder ungleichmäßig arbeitenden Abnehmer (2), ist in der Zuführungsleitung zum Abnehmer zwischen einem Schaumerzeuger (1) und dem Abnehmer (2) ein Zwischenbehälter als Schaumspeicher (4) angeordnet. Am Auslaufende dieses Schaumspeichers im Bereich der Abgabeseite kann ein Ventil (5), vorzugsweise ein programmgesteuertes Ventil vorgesehen sein, das sich der Arbeitsweise des Abnehmers anpaßt. Der Abnehmer kann eine Schaumauftragsstation sein, bei dem eine aufgeschaumte Auftragsflotte, Behandlungsflotte, Färbeflotte od.dgl. auf vorzugsweiese ein Flächengebilde, beispielsweise eine Warenbahn, aufgetragen wird. Die Größe des Schaumspeichers (4) ist abhangig von der geförderten Menge des Schaumes.
