[origin: EP0083571A1] The corrosion of aluminum components in contact with circulating water, e.g. in radiators of heating systems, is reduced by providing a surface film of finely divided magnetite (Fe3O4). This may be achieved by introducing colloidal magnetite into the circulating water, preferably in conjunction with a surface active agent and a supplementary inhibitor to reduce galvanic corrosion in the presence of copper or brass.
