Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0086284A1] 1. A piston for internal combustion engines operated with heavy oil, which piston has a piston head consisting of ferrous material and having cavities for conducting cooling oil, characterized by the provision of blind holes (4, 9), which are provided in the skirt of the piston behind the ring-carrying portion (3), and of rods (5, 8) consisting of a material having a high thermal conductivity and inserted in respective ones of said blind holes for ensuring a controlled transfer of heat from the piston to those regions of the ring-carrying portion of the piston in which the temperature must be increased in order to prevent an occurrence of temperatures below the dew point temperature of sulfuric acid.
