[origin: WO8300742A1] The object of the invention is to provide a disposable article such as a diaper, sanitary napkin, bandage, and the like which gives a visual indication of the presence of bodily excretions but does not employ materials which can be leached out of the article and come into contact with the skin of the wearer of the article. The invention does not employ water soluble or water dispersible indicator materials. A saline water indicating material (2) is placed in the proximity of an outer water impermeable semitransparent backsheet (1). When the saline water indicating material (2) comes into contact with a saline bodily excretion such as urine, perspiration, or feces, the saline water indicating material (2) changes color and is visible from the outer side of the semitransparent backsheet (1). The saline water indicating material (2) is comprised of, in intimate contact, a water insoluble polymeric ion exchanger and a water insoluble polymeric exchanged-ion indicator. The water insoluble polymeric exchanged-ion indicator component of the saline water indicating material (2) can be a water insolublepolymeric substrate bound acid-base indicator, a water insoluble inherently polymeric acid-base indicator, a water insoluble polymeric substrate bound chelating agent, or a water insoluble ion-indicating polymeric ion exchanger. The saline water indicating material (2) is non-leachable and does not contact the skin of the wearer of the article.

L'objet de l'invention est de produire un article jetable tel qu'une couche, une serviette hygiénique, un bandage et autre produit similaire qui donne une indication visuelle de la présence d'excrétions du corps sans toutefois utiliser des matériaux pouvant être extraits par lessivation hors de l'article et venir en contact avec la peau de l'usager. L'invention n'utilise pas de matériaux indicateurs solubles à l'eau ou se dispersant dans l'eau. Un matériau d'indication (2) d'eau saline est placé à proximité d'une couche de support extérieure semi-transparente perméable à l'eau (1). Lorsque le matériau d'indication d'eau saline (2) vient en contact avec une excrétion saline du corps tel que de l'urine, de la transpiration, ou des excréments, le matériau d'indication d'eau saline (2) change de couleur et est visible de l'extérieur de la couche de support semi-transparente (1). Le matériau d'indication d'eau saline (2) consiste, en contact intime, en un composant polymère, échangeur d'ions, insoluble à l'eau, et en un composant indicateur d'ions échangés, polymère, insoluble à l'eau. Le composant indicateur d'ions échangés, polymère, insoluble à l'eau du matériau d'indication d'eau saline (2) peut être un indicateur acide-base lié à un substrat polymère insoluble à l'eau, un indicateur acide-base, essentiellement polymère, insoluble à l'eau, un agent de chélation lié à un substrat polymère insoluble à l'eau, ou un échangeur d'ions polymère d'indication d'ions, insoluble à l'eau. Le matériau d'indication d'eau saline (2) est non-lessivable et n'entre pas en contact avec la peau de l'usager portant l'article.
