Travelling grate forming the hearth of a fluidised bed furnace or reactor, composed of links hinged on horizontal pins (10) in the manner of chain links and comprising side links (12), driving links (14) and filling links (18), each link being composed of a blade-shaped body (20), arranged vertically, and a cap (24) the width of which is greater than the thickness of said body, characterized in that the width of the caps (24) of the filling links (18) is roughly equal to the one of the side links (12) and of the driving links (14) and in that the top of the caps (24) is rounded or bevelled in order to allow for correct suspension of the products forming the fluidised bed and their edges are thinned so as to reduce the pressure losses sustained by a gas flow passing through the grate.
