Abstract (en)
In an automatic process for the continuous prodn. of quilted fabric, several layers of superposed material are simultaneously withdrawn from supply rolls ranked at one end of the line, and the extended sheets are clamped together transversely on either side of a sewing station where a sewing head, which is freely movable in two dimensions sews them together using a repeated pattern of closed figures. When the sewing of one length is completed, the clamps open and the next length is drawn into the sewing station. Whilst the new length is being sewn the sheets are cut transversely to sever the previously-sewn length, and the jaws which advance the sheet move back to grasp the new cut edge. This is a fast, continuous and fully automated process which replaces slow, expensive and heavily labour-intensive prodn. methods.

Cette invention a comme objet un procédé et une machine pour piquer, avec des cycles automatiques continus, plusieurs couches superposées de matériel différent, même d'une épaisseur importante, par des coutures selon des trajectoires fermées définissant, sur une bande de tissus superposés, des motifs qui se répètent. Les tissus sont appelés depuis des rouleaux d'alimentation par longueurs successives correspondant chacune au rapport de motif, ces longueurs étant ensuite détachées du rouleau d'alimentation.
