A puzzle device of multi-stage structure in which - each stage constitutes a fraction of the total puzzle area and receives at least one movable piece such as m, - at least one stage of the puzzle can receive a plurality of movable pieces at once, - at least one movable piece of the puzzle can be disposed indifferently on a plurality of different stages, - the movable pieces exhibit, at least at the level of their totality, a combination of unitary tangible or solely visual elements, such as p, differentiated in at least two distinct types, the unitary elements of at least one of the distinct types having the property of being transparent to light, the other unitary elements having properties of opaqueness, - the different types of unitary elements are such that the device exhibits, for certain arrangements of the movable pieces on the different stages and solely for these arrangements, a predetermined visual property such as graphics to be reconstituted, said device being characterized in that - at least one movable part can, on at least one of the stages of the puzzle, indifferently occupy a plurality of different positions on this stage, - at least one movable part can, on the total puzzle area, be oriented indifferently in a plurality of different directions.
