Bei dem ein Handstück (11, 111, 211) und zwei gegeneinander zwischen einer Öffnungslage und einer Schließlage bewegbaren Greifbacken (14, 114, 214) und (16, 116, 216) aufweisenden Werkzeug ist eine Greifbacke (16, 116, 216) in einer sich in Richtung der Schließund Öffnungsbewegungen erstreckenden Führung (15, 115, 215) des Handstücks längsbeweglich geführt. Die Betätigung dieser bewegbaren Greifbacke erfolgt über einen Lenker (18, 118, 218) mittels eines Betätigungshebels (22, 122, 222), dessen eines Ende am Handstück angelenkt ist. Das Handstück, der daran angelenkte Betätigungshebel und der dessen Verbindung mit der bewegbaren Greifbacke vermittelnde Lenker bilden zusammen mit der in der Führung aufgenommenen bewegbaren Greifbacke eine geschlossene Mehrgelenkkette. Bei einer besonderen Ausbildungsform ist diese Mehrgelenkkette als Kniehebelantrieb für die bewegbare Greifbacke ausgebildet.
