A process of removing aromatic compounds from hydrocarbon mixtures boiling in the range from 30 to 300 degrees C comprising a liquid-liquid extraction with a selective solvent, a regeneration of the solvent by re-extraction with a non-aromatic hydrocarbon, and a separation of the aromatic compounds from the non-aromatic re-extracting agent, characterized in that water is added to the selective solvent after the extraction and before the re-extraction.
