Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0088318A2] The lead of the propelling pencil is automatically fed as far out of the tip as the lead has been used. This takes place with the aid of the writing pressure by the lead guide tube, which moves into the pencil tip against spring force, when the spring is released. The writing pressure is received by clamping tongs which are supported on an inner cone by means of roller bodies. The clamping tongs (Figure 1) consist of a guide head (16), onto which spring arms (24) are moulded which each have at their free end a clamping jaw (25) which contains a clamping groove (27) for the lead (12) and a bearing pouch (30) for receiving the roller body (35), which bearing pouch is formed by a straight roll-off track, an apex and a support surface and is produced by casting.
