The invention relates to a thermal engine, more particularly its cylinder block (3). The cylinder block (3) is formed by an inner part (7) made of metal and an outer part (8) made of a material with a high damping coefficient or a composite material with viscoelastic properties or an assembly of thermal and acoustic insulation materials. The invention is used for the soundproofing of a piston engine.
