Abstract (en)

A hinge device for tiltable windows, especially for installation in an inclined roof, comprises two baseplates (4, 3) to be secured on the main frame and sash, respectively, of the window and includes further at least one pair of substantially symmetrically arranged flat angular levers (5, 6) inserted between the baseplates and mutually connected through a hinge pin (7) in the area of their vertices. A first arm (5 min , 6 min ) of each of the levers (5, 6) is hinged through a pivot pin (8, 10) to a respective one of the baseplates (3, 4), while their second arm (5 sec , 6 sec ) is pivotally and displaceably connected with the other baseplate (4, 3). Said connection includes a brake, Figure 2, which only exerts substantially frictional resistance against the movement of displacement, while it lets the rotating movement be effected in a substantially frictionless way. This allows the movement of window sash between its closing position and an optimal position of ventilation to take place under such a braking that the sash can be left in any intermediate position, while the further tilting or rotation from the position of ventilation till the position of cleaning may be effected substantially without any frctional resistance.
