Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0090636A2] A liquid transport device comprises a first capillary transport zone (40) and a second nonvented capillary transport zone (59) which extends from a diverting aperture (60) in a member (32) bounding the first zone (40). In order to ensure that liquid flowing from the first zone (40) completely fills the second zone (59), the head (h) of liquid that is above the aperture (60) is selected to be sufficiently large compared to the length (t0) of the second zone (59) and the width (w) of the first zone (40) adjacent the diverting aperture (60) is selected to have a predetermined relation to a dimension (D1) of the aperture (60).
