A coke-oven with a multiplicity of horizontal coking chambers closed on the upper surface by an oven roof, with closable charging holes provided in the oven roof for each of the coking chambers, with rails mounted on the oven roof and with a rail mounted coke-oven charging car, in which the coke-oven charging car is provided with charging pipes that are lowerable into the charging holes of individual coking chambers and with interception equipment for the gases released during charging, in which the charging gases captured by the interception equipment are conveyable to a stationary charging gas purifier located on or against the coke-oven, in which a stationary charging gas collection pipe connected to the charging gas purifier is provided on the oven roof and in which the interception equipment on the coke-oven charging car is connectable to the charging gas collection pipe, characterized in that the interception equipment (9) and/or the charging gas collection pipe is/are provided with bypass valve(s) (27) for the introduction of fresh air.
