The supplier has a control circuit responding to signals from sensors and controlling the stepping motors (117) that drives the roller (85) that conveys the string of labels (on a backing). The control circuit contains a pulse generator (121) that rotates the stepping motor through a given angle per pulse. The motor is permanently coupled via the roller to the string of labels. The control circuit regulates the supply of pulses to the stepping motor in response to start and stop signals. The rate or regulation of the pulses is gradual, i.e. the motor shows or speeds up gradually. Timing circuits (123,125) produce the required ramp functions. Counters (137,141) counts the pulses to define the stopping point. The feed rate is increased, the conveyor belt tension reduced and noise limited.

Die Spendevorrichtung für auf einem Trägerband haftende Etiketten weist eine das Trägerband um eine Spendekante herumführende Bandführungsvorrichtung auf. Eine in Bandbewegungsrichtung hinter der Spendekante angeordnete Bandantriebsrolle ist ohne Zwischenschaltung eines Brems/Kupplungs-Aggregats mit einem Schrittmotor (117) gekuppelt. Der Schrittmotor (117) wird aus einem Impulsgenerator (121) gespeist, dessen Impulsrate beim Bewegungsstart des Trägerbands zur Vermeidung ruckartigen Anfahrens allmählich erhöht und zur Vermeidung ruckartigen Abbremsens allmählich erniedrigt wird. Das Abbremsen des Schrittmotors (117) wird durch einen einzigen Sensor (135) gesteuert. Um fehlende Etiketten auf dem Trägerband erkennen zu können, ist ein Referenzzähler (143) vorgesehen, der während einer Referenz-fahrt die zwischen zwei Stopsignalen des Sensors (135) erzeugten Impulse des Impulsgenerators (121) zählt. Ein überwachungszähler (147), der die Impulse während des Spendebetriebs zählt, löst den Bremsvorgang aus, wenn innerhalb der vom Referenzzähler (143) ermittelten Impulszahl kein Stopsignal des Sensors (135) auftritt.
