In order, in a steel toecap which bears an elastic strip on the opening side, which strip tapers in a wedge-shape in the direction towards the free strip edge and has a flange, which reaches under the opening edge of the steel toecap and merges steplessly into the plane of the steel toecap underside, and a number of slots, which are directed transversely to the longitudinal extension of the strip and are open towards the free longitudinal edge of the strip, to achieve a gentle transition from steel toecap edge to the strip end, without hindering the bending of the foot, it is proposed that that part (4) of the strip (2) which projects beyond the opening edge of the steel toecap (1) has in the upper steel toecap region a smaller width than in the lateral, downwardly angled regions, and the strip width is designed so as to increase towards the lateral, downwardly directed regions. <IMAGE>

Um bei einer Stahlkappe für Sicherheitsschuhwerk, die mündungsseitig eine elastische Leiste trägt, die sich in Richtung zum freien Leisten-Rand hin keilförmig verjüngt, einen den Mündungsrand der Stahlkappe untergreifenden und in die Ebene der Stahlkappenunterseite stufenlos übergehenden Flansch und mehrere, quer zur Leisten-Längserstreckung gerichtete und zum freien Längsrand der Leiste hin offene Schlitze aufweist, einen sanften Übergang vom Stahlkappenrand zum Streifenende zu erreichen, ohne das Abknicken des Fußes zu behindern, wird vorgeschlagen, daß der über den Mündungsrand der Stahlkappe (1) vorstehende Teil (4) der Leiste (2) im oberen Stahlkappenbereich eine geringere Breite als in den seitlichen, nach unten abgebogenen Bereichen hat und die Leistenbreite zu den seitlichen, nach unten zielenden Bereichen hin zunehmend ausgebildet ist.
