[origin: EP0097021A1] A carding engine having at each side thereof a frame structure comprising a central section (6) carrying a main carding cylinder, a first end section (9) carrying a takerin and a second end section (10) carrying a doffer. Each section is of substantially rectangular cross-section and side plates of the two end sections overlap side plates of the adjacent end of the centre section. Each end section is mounted about a pivot (19) on the centre section and adjustable about the pivot by a filbow (26). When adjusted the sections are locked together by bolts (29) and held transversely rigid and square one to the other.
