Die beanspruchten 2-Methylpentansäureester sind mit Ausnahme des 2-Methylpentansäure-2-methylpentylesters neue Verbindungen, die wertvolle Riechstoffe mit blumigen, fruchtigen, würzigen, holzigen Geruchsnoten und sehr guter Haftfestigkeit darstellen. Man gewinnt die Verbindungen durch Veresterung von 2-Methylpentansäure mit einem der allgemeinen Formel entsprechenden verzweigten oder carbocyclischen Alkohol.
