[origin: WO8302515A1] A method of measuring and signalling the sea speed of a surface craft, for example a sailboard, is executed by the sea speed being scanned and converted to electrical or magnetic signals which, via a transmitter unit, are transferred without the use of wires to a receiver unit in which the signals received are processed and the sea speed is signalled. Preferably, radio waves are used for the transfer to the receiver unit, which is a battery-driven receiver capable of being carried on the person and having a display panel which provides a direct indication of the sea speed. Apparatus for this purpose includes a transmitter unit and a receiver unit. The transmitter unit (3) with antenna (5) is, for example, mounted in a stern fin (1) in which there is also disposed a speed measuring transducer (2). The receiver unit can be a radio receiver which is preferably secured to a wrist-strap and can be worn in the same manner as a wrist watch. The possibility is thus provided of being able to observe the sea speed without any restriction on the freedom of movement, and without the necessity of having to look at an instrument which is mounted in a fixed manner on the vessel.

Procédé de mesure et d'indication de la vitesse marine d'un engin se déplaçant à la surface de l'eau, par exemple une planche à voile; la vitesse marine est analysée et convertie en signaux électriques ou magnétiques lesquels sont transférés, via un émetteur, sans l'utilisation de câbles électriques, à un récepteur dans lequel les signaux reçus sont traités et la vitesse est indiquée. De préférence, des ondes radio sont utilisées pour le transfert au récepteur, lequel est un récepteur alimenté par une batterie pouvant être porté sur une personne et ayant un cadran d'affichage qui fournit une indication directe de la vitesse marine. A cet effet, l'appareil comprend un émetteur et un récepteur. L'émetteur (3) avec une antenne (5) est monté, par exemple, dans une dérive de poupe (1) dans laquelle un transducteur de mesure de vitesse (2) est également monté. Le récepteur peut être un récepteur radio qui est fixé à un bracelet et peut être porté de la même manière qu'une montre.
