[origin: EP0099563A2] The bag consists of a plastic film tube which is closed at both ends by a transverse welded seam and has a slot, serving as filling opening, in the front wall near to one transverse welded seam. The bag is closed by welding a film covering sheet over the slot. In order to prevent the slot tearing when it is being filled using a filling nozzle and to retain a satisfactory welding without impairing the rear wall, before the bag is filled a slotted strip serving as a heat block and reinforcement is welded onto the front wall, the slot of which is congruent with the slot in the front wall. When the covering sheet is subsequently welded on between welding jaws clamping the covering sheet, the front wall and the rear wall, this heat block prevents the rear wall from being welded to the front wall or weakened by displacement of softened film material. Additionally, the front wall, which is greatly stressed in the region of the slot, is stiffened and reinforced by the welded-on strip, which has an advantageous effect both for cleaning and handling when opening, filling and closing the bag. <IMAGE>
