In tooth cleaning instruments there is the problem of including all the gaps between the teeth and gums and other indentations by the generally bristle-type cleaning elements, specifically under controlled movement of the operator's hand. As a solution, rigid cleaning elements (RB) are provided with a foot portion (F) which is arranged inside a flexible wall (W) and in the region of the inside surface (IK) of a holding part (K). The foot portions allow precise inclusion of the indentations and elevations of the tooth surface, which is in contact with the tips of the cleaning elements, by the sense of touch of the surface of the finger which is in contact with the holding part in the manner of feeling a relief structure. To a large extent there is also a matching of the shape of the effective surface formed by the tips of the cleaning elements to the surface of the tooth under the contact pressure of the finger. <IMAGE>

Bei Zahnreinigungsgeräten besteht das Problem der möglichst vollständigen Erfassung von Zahnzwischenräumen und Paradontaltaschen sonstigen Vertiefungen durch die im allgemeinen borstenartigen Reinigungselemente, und zwar unter kontrollierter Arbeitsbewegung der Bedienungshand. Zur Lösung werden biegesteife Reinigungselemente (RB) mit einem innerhalb einer biegeweichen Wandung (W) sowie im Bereich der Innenfläche (IK) eines Halteteils (K) angeordneten Fussabschnitt (F) vorgesehen. Die Fussabschnitte ermöglichen eine genaue Erfassung der Vertiefungen und Erhöhungen der mit den Spitzen der Reinigungselemente in Berührung stehenden Zahnoberfläche durch den Tastsinn der mit dem Halteteil in Berührung stehenden Fingeroberfläche nach Art einer Reliefabtastung. Dabei ergibt sich auch eine weitgehende Formanpassung der durch die Spitzen der Reinigungselemente gebildeten Wirkfläche an die Zahnoberfläche unter dem Anpressdruck des Fingers.
