A dental chair having a base (4, 7, 10, 60) which comprises a stationary base part (4) which is essentially rectangular in plan view, a lifting device (60) which is articulated to said base part, and a seat carrier (10) which is arranged at the upper end of the lifting device and is likewise rectangular in plan view, characterised in that the base part (4) and the seat carrier (10) in each case consist of a base plate (11, 31) as a supporting element, bent end pieces (12, 32) which are secured to the shorter sides of the base plate (11, 31) at both sides and which embrace the longer sides of the base plate by way of their bent end parts (12a, 32a), and covering profiled sections (13, 33) which cover the longer sides of the base plate (11, 31) and are secured to the end pieces (12, 32) by means of connecting elements (15, 35).
