Spring suspension for individually sprung independent wheels (1) of rail vehicles wherein at least two spring elements mounted in series in relation to each other (3, 5) are allocated to each independent wheel, the first spring element (3) being arranged between a wheel bearing (2) of the independent wheel (1) and a vertically moveable seismic mass (4) and the second spring element (5) being arranged between the seismic mass (4) and a vehicle frame, possibly the vehicle body (6) such that the second spring element (5) is relieved from instantaneous shock loads of the independent wheel (1) (Fig. 2).
