Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0100518A2] 1. A casement window composed of plastics hollow sections which may be reinforced with metal, having two casements (7, 13) to be opened in succession and the frames of which are formed by hollow section bars, from which stop ribs (9') project towards the window frame (1) parallel to the plane of the window at the inside of the window, which ribs strike against the window frame from the inside of the window - preferably through flexible sealing strips, having a window frame (1) which is surrounded, at its outside, by a rib (4) which projects towards the window opening, parallel to the plane of the window, and against which the casement frames strike with their outer faces - preferably through flexible sealing strips (6) mounted on the window frame, having a first stop rail (9) which is mounted on the first casement (7) to be opened first and which bears against the second casement (13), to be opened afterwards, from the inside of the window - preferably through a flexible sealing strip (12) - and continues the stop rib (9') of the associated first casement (7) at its side adjacent to the second casement (13), and having a second stop rail which is mounted on the second casement and bears against the first casement (7) from the outside of the window and which is formed from the second flange (17) of an L-section bar (16), the first flange (18) of which is glued to the surface of the second casement (13) adjacent to the first casement (7), this first flange (18) defining a hollow chamber (1c) formed between the adjacent faces of the casements, and the first stop rail (9) forming a seal against the end face (19) of the first flange (18) at the inside of the window, characterised in that a tongue (28) of flexible material extends the end face (19), at the inside of the window, of the L-section bar ending at a short distance from the window frame (1), upwards and downwards substantially to the upper and lower edges respectively of the upper and lower stop ribs (9') of the second casement (13) and is connected, with a sealing action, to its face adjacent to the first casement (7), and that the tongue (28) bears with a sealing action against the end edge, at the inside of the window, of the upper and lower stop ribs (9') of the first casement (7).
