1. A locking element (3) formed of a metalic tape to bring about a detachable connection of area elements (1, 2) pushing together, for example of partial sections of metal forming the floor covering material for roadways, the locking element being (3) provided on its both sides with leg-type attachments (7), showing downwards, arranged in distances (A), and lying opposite to each other, which are running parallely, so that the locking element (3) shows an U-section in its upper area, with the distance (A) between the two leg-type attachments (7) being slightly larger than double of wall thickness (S) of the outside frames (4, 5) of the area elements (1, 2), and with the leg-type attachments gripping into the recesses (6) of the area elements (1, 2), characterized in that the length (L) of the leg-type attachments (7) is somewhat longer than the height (H) of the outside frames (4, 5) of the area elements (1, 2) ; that the leg-type attachments (7) are bevelled on one side in such a way, that the width (b) of their bottom edge is smaller than half the width (B) in the upper section ; and that the end pieces (8, 9) of the leg-type attachments (7) are being beaded to the inner side in such a way, that the length (1) of each beaded end piece (8, 9) of the leg-type attachments (7) is longer than half the distance (A) between the two leg-type attachments (7), so that the locking element (3) shows a closed U-section at its lower end and therefore embraces the outside frames (4, 5) of the area elements (1, 2).

Ein aus einem Metallband geformtes Verriegelungselement (3) für die Herstellung einer lösbaren Verbindung von aneinanderliegenden Flächenelementen (1, 2), beispielsweise von einen Bodenbelag für Fahrbahnen bildenden Teilstücken aus Metall, weist an seinen beiden Seiten nach unten weisende, mit Abstand angeordnete und sich gegenüberliegende schenkelartige Ansätze (7) auf, die in AusneHmungen (6) der Flächenelemente (1, 2) eingreifen. Die schenkelartigen Ansätze (7) verlaufen parallel zueinander, so daß das Verriegelungselement (3) in seinem oberen Bereich einen U-förmigen Querschnitt aufweist, wobei der Abstand (A) der beiden schenkelartigen Ansätze (7) voneinander etwas größer ist als das Doppelte der Wandstärke (5) der äußeren Stege (4, 5) der Flächenelemente (1, 2) und wobei die Länge (L) der schenkelartigen Ansätze (7) etwas größer ist als die Höhe (H) der äußeren Stege (4, 5) der Flächenelemente (1, 2). Die Enden (8, 9) der schenkelartigen Ansätze (7) sind nach innen umgebördelt.
