Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0102604A2] To make scarifiers (1) for lawn care practicable for use in private gardens and to reduce substantially the production costs the rotary motor (5), the working shaft (16) and two running wheels (2) only are arranged coaxially or closely adjacent to one another on a simple spar-guided housing (6). The wheels (2) are fastened to the housing (6) so as to be adjustable radially relative to the working shaft (16) in order to vary the depth of penetration of the scarifying knives (17). The scarifying knives (17) are mounted on the working shaft (16) so as to be freely rotatable about pivot axes (18) parallel to this. They are erected radially under the effect of centrifugal force and, when the working speed is reached, are capable of making scarifying slits in the lawn soil. The change of inclination of the scarifier (1) has no influence on the depth of penetration of the scarifying knives (17). <IMAGE>
