A device for the longitudinal division of slabs in a continuous casting plant, comprising at least one torch cutter device which is disposed above a roller table (2) receiving the slab (1) for division and which comprises a torch car (10) having a torch (24) and mobile on rails in the direction of transport of the slab (1), and comprising means for producing a relative alignment between the slab (1) and a torch track (14), in which the torch (24) is held slidably by a torch slide (21) on an arm (24) disposed perpendicularly to the direction of transport of the slab (1) and is guided relatively to the slab (1) by two mobile alignment cars (35) connected to the torch slide (21), characterized in that the torch track (14) is fixed on the two mobile alignment cars (35) for the purposes of adjustment of said track.
