A container (1) with a cover (2) and at least one locking bolt (9) comprising an insertion part (10) and a handle part (12), the insertion part (10) being movably guided in a slot (7) in a flange (5) of the cover (2) between sliding rails at the top and shoulders (14) extending under the flange on both sides of the slot, and when the cover rests on the container the insertion part (10) engages in a slot (8) in the flange (6) of the container (1) and has a projection (16) which extends under the flange (6) in the closed position, characterized in that a spring hook (15) formed integrally on the underside of the insertion part (10) has an upwardly projecting free end which, in every position of the locking bolt (9), is disposed at the edge of the slot (7) in the cover (1) between the closing position and the opening position, and in the opening position the bolt (9) is held captive in the cover only by the guidance of the sliding rails (13) and shoulder (14).
