Electrically operable dispenser for liquid or pasty materials, such as disinfectants, cleaning agents, soap and ointments, comprising a dispensing container (2) for the materials to be dispensed, a pump (29) connected to the dispensing container, and an inlet valve (22) and an outlet valve (31) for the materials to be dispensed, in which dispenser the pump is controlled by means of a capacitive proximity switch (67), characterised in that the proximity switch (67) has a sensor circuit, the sensor circuit contains four NAND Schmitt triggers, two of these being connected as oscillators (79, 80) of which one serves as a fixed oscillator (80) and the other, acting as a variable oscillator (79), can be influenced by the sensor plate (71), the third NAND Schmitt trigger, acting as a phase discriminator (81), is connected upstream of the fourth NAND Schmitt trigger, acting as a threshold switch (88), with the interposition of a diode (85), and the sensor circuit furthermore comprises a CMOS-IC and a sensor plate (71), a diode (97) being connected between the sensor circuit and the power supply (72) and a capacitor (96) being connected in parallel with the sensor circuit.
