[origin: EP0105396A2] In this portable room heater (1) for solid fuels, an internal heater (2) is surrounded by a housing (3) made of sheet metal, cast iron or ceramic components. In order to increase the heating capacity of such a room heater (1) without great expense and without additional space requirement, a free space (7), in which an electric heating element (8) is arranged, is formed between the internal heater (2) and the housing (3).
