[origin: EP0106109A2] For receiving a banknote (3) tested for authenticity in a banknote tester (2), there is at its exit a conveyor device (7), the drive motor (26) of which is started by a signal from the banknote tester (2) for a first running phase in a specific direction of rotation. When the banknote (2) has been conveyed into a stackable position, a switch (43) transmits a signal to a control circuit (42), by means of which the drive motor (26) is stopped, reversed and started in the opposite direction of rotation for a second running phase, in which a stacking device (41) is driven. A gear branch (27) for the conveyor device (7) and a gear branch (29) for the stacking device (41) are constantly in engagement with the common drive motor (26). A free-wheel member (28 or 50) in each of the gear branches causes the alternate direction of rotation to act on the conveyor device (7) and on the stacking device (41) in chronological succession.
