[origin: US4557450A] A device for locking a drawing board of a drawing table in a selected position; the drawing board consisting essentially of a working board secured to a movable cylindrical column adapted to slide vertically in a frame structure bearing on the floor, the weight of the assembly being compensated by a balancing device disposed between the frame structure and the board, the locking device proper comprising a pair of coplanar brake shoes encompassing the column and rigidly mounted to the frame structure; the brake shoe movements being controlled by a pedal disposed externally of the frame structure. A plate supporting two pivoted arms each connected to one brake shoes, on the hand, and to the plate, on the other hand, keeps the brake applied against the column by means of a pair of traction springs tensioned on either side of the shoes between a bearing point located on the frame structure and a traction point located on the plate.

Dispositif de blocage d'une table à dessin composée principalement d'un plan de travail (4) fixé sur une colonne (3) mobile coulissant verticalement dans un bâti (7) reposant sur le sol, le poids de l'ensemble étant compensé par un dispositif d'equilibrage disposé entre le bâti et la planche, caractérisé par la combinaison d'une colonne mobile (3) cylindrique enserrée par un fein (7), composé de deux mâchoires (70, 71) solidaires du bâti (1), commandé par une pédale (6) extérieure. Une plaque (8) supportant deux bielles (81, 82) reliées, chacune, à une mâchoire (70) du frein (7) d'une part, à la plaque (8) d'autre part, maintient le frein (7) serré contre la colonne (3) au moyen de deux ressorts (9) tendus de part et d'autre des mâchoires (70, 71) entre un point d'appui (102) sur le bâti et un point de traction (80) sur la plaque.
