A method for making a cylindrical work piece of progressively increasing internal and/or external diameters, by contracting down and drawing down through dies, in which a support-nose, substantially perpendicular to the axis of the work piece, is formed on the internal periphery and in the vicinity of the front end of the blank to be drawn down, on which support-nose is exerted the thrust of the mandrel, and a device for carrying out the method. The support-nose is formed by contracting down the end of the blank (9) on the end (10) of the mandrel (2) by pushing the blank and the mandrel held together in axial displacement through one or more contracting-down dies (1). It is then possible to contract down and/or draw down the blank on the same mandrel. <IMAGE>

La présente invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'une pièce cylindrique de diamètres interne et/ou externe progressivement croissant par rétreint et étirage à travers des filières dans lequel on forme sur la périphérie interne et au voisinage de l'extrémité avant de l'ébauche à étirer un bec-appui sensiblement perpendiculaire à l'axe de la pièce, bec-appui sur lequel s'exerce la poussée du mandrin et un dispositif pour sa mise en oeuvre. Conformément à l'invention on forme le bec-appui en rétreignant l'extrémité de l'ébauche (9) sur l'extrémité (10) du mandrin (2) en poussant l'ébauche et le mandrin maintenus solidaires au déplacement axial à travers une ou plusiers filières (1) de rétreint. Il est ensuite possible de rétreindre et/ou d'étirer l'ébauche sur la même mandrin.
