1. Radial fan having a spiral housing widening spirally about a impeller from the tongue at the under edge of its air outlet aperture to its upper edge and having a check wall (3, 4) in the region of the tongue of the spiral housing, characterized in that the check wall (3, 4) consists of a plane metal plate or is a check surface curved correspondingly to the flow pattern and projecting into the interior of the spiral housing (2), and that the check wall (3, 4) exhibits an outer edge configuration parallel to each of the opposite outer edges of the spiral housing (2) and of the impeller (1) and/or of the inlet aperture (5) which are to be sealed.

Bei einem unter stark veränderlichen Betriebsbedingungen arbeitenden Radialventilator sollen trotz hoher Leistungsdichte die an sich zu erwartende Kennlinien-Unstetigkeit (Hysterese-Verlauf) in der Nähe des Optimalpunktes verhindert und die jeweils günstigeren Kennlinien-Werte erreicht werden; dazu wird erfindungsgemäß vorgeschlagen, im Bereich der Zunge (22) am Spiral-Gehäuse (2) zwischen dessen Innenwandung und dem Laufrad (1) eine Sperrwand (3 bzw. 4) anzuordnen, durch die ein Wiedereintritt der zur Austrittsöffnung (21) geförderten Luft in den Spiralkreislauf des Spiral-Gehäuses (2) verhindert ist. Eine Anwendung eignet sich insbesondere bei geregelten Radialventilatoren mit veränderlicher Drosselung, z.B. zum Einsatz in der Klima- und Belüftungstechnik.
