The device (5) essentially consists of a bundle of hollow capillary fibres, preferably fibres made of cellulose or of ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer, inside which there is fixed, by covalent bonds for, a ligand which is selective with respect to the substance, antibody or antigen to be eliminated or recovered and present in the blood. In order to purify blood by extracorporeal "in vivo" circulation, a sample is taken, for example, from the femoral artery (1), heparin (3) is added before conveying the blood through the device (5), and the blood is then degassed (7) and returned to the femoral vein (10). <IMAGE>

Le dispositif (5) est essentiellement constitué d'un faisceau de fibres creuses capillaires, de préférence des fibres de cellulose ou de copolymère d'alcool éthylène-vinylique, à l'intérieur desquelles est fixé par covalence un ligand sélectif pour la substance, anticorps ou antigène, à éliminer ou récupérer, présente dans le sang. Pour purifier le sang par circulation extra-corporelle "in vivo", on le prélève par exemple dans l'artère fémorale (1), on ajoute l'héparine (3) avant de le faire passer à travers le dispositif (5) puis on le dégaze (7) et le renvoie dans la veine fémorale (10).
