1. An axial fan for an air-cooled combustion engine, the fan comprising an air stator (3) and an impeller (2) for producing the cooling air current, the stator and impeller being aligned in tandem in a fan casing (5) of uniform external diameter in the region of the impeller, the casing being provided at its inlet with a rounded lead-in area (6) constituting an air baffle, characterized in that the stator (3), viewed in the direction of flow of the cooling air, is arranged axially upstream of the impeller (2), and in that the rounded lead-in area of the axial fan's (1) casing (5) is contracted in such a way that the fan casing's (5) outer contour of its entire lead-in area (6) is smaller than or equal to the fan casing's circumference in the region of the impeller.

Um bei luftgekühlten Brennkraftmaschinen die Gebläseeinbaumaße zu verkleinern, wird erfindungsgemäß der Einlaufbereich (6) derart verringert, daß dieser die gleiche Außenkontur aufweist wie das Gebläse im Laufradbereich, d. h. das Gebläse weist nunmehr nur noch einen konstanten Einbaudurchmesser auf. Die notwendige Luftleitfläche wird hierbei entweder durch eine umlaufende radiale Einschnürung oder durch einen Einsatz (8) gebildet.
