1. Wall-paper backing made of polystyrene rigid foam, which on at least one of its surfaces is provided with a coating for improving the adhesion between the wall-paper backing and the combustible covering, such as wall-paper, and which comprises a flame-retardant, wherein said adhesion-improving coating is comprised of an adhesion-promoting compound comprising a copolymer or terpolymer which contains a predominant proportion of vinyl acetate units, with at least one non-combustible inorganic compound based on boron or aluminum as the flame retardant, whereby the weight ratio of adhesion-promoting compound to flame retardant varies between 1:3 and 1:8 and the adhesion-improving coating has a weight per unit area of 100 to 400 g/m**2, preferably of 200 to 300 g/m**2 (dry).

Die Untertapete, welche in Form von Platten oder Folien aus Polystyrol-Hartschaum vorliegt, hat auf mindestens einer ihrer Oberflächen eine haftvermittelnde Beschichtung, die einen Klebrohstoff und ein Flammschutzmittel umfaßt. Die haftvermittelnde Verbindung besteht vorzugsweise aus einem Co- oder Terpolymeren auf Basis von Vinylacetat-Einheiten, das Flammschutzmittel vorzugsweise aus anorganischen Verbindungen auf Basis von Bor, Aluminium oder Antimon. Gegenstand der Anmeldung ist ferner eine wäßrige Dispersion, welche die haftvermittelnde Verbindung und das Flammschutzmittel enthält.
