The device has a closing member provided between an inflow end and an outflow end and is to be designed so that it can be visibly accommodated in bathrooms or the like. This is achieved by means of a cylinder (1), connecting inflow end (2) and outflow end (3), having lateral longitudinal recesses (7) which are arranged, in the flow direction (x), downstream of the closing member constructed as a drumlike and hollow piston body (14), said closing member being provided on its periphery (16) with perforations (17) and being connected to a hollow shaft (19) pointing in the flow direction. Eine Vorrichtung zum zeitweiligen Unterbrechen der Strömung in einer Rohrleitung mit zwischen einem Zulaufende und einem Ablaufende vorgesehenem Verschlußkörper soll so ausgestaltet werden, daß sie auch in Badezimmern od. dgl. sichtbar untergebracht zu werden vermag. Dies wird durch einen -- Zulaufende (2) und Ablaufende (3) verbindenden -- Zylinder (1) mit seitlichen Längsausnehmungen (7) erreicht, die in Strömungsrichtung (x) den als trommelartigen und hohlen Kolbenkörper (14) ausgebildeten Verschlußkörper nachgeordnet sind, wobei letzterer an seinem Umfang (16) mit Durchbrüchen (17) versehen und an einen in Strömungsrichtung weisenden Hohlschaft (19) angeschlossen ist. Dabei soll der Zylinder (1) mit einer zulaufseitig angeordneten, den Längsausnehmungen (7) innenliegenden Ringnut (34) versehen sein, nahe deren der Kolbenkörper (14) vorgesehen sowie an den in Strömungsrichtung weisenden, an die Längsausnehmungen reichenden Hohlschaft (19) angeschlossen sein.
