[origin: EP0109952A2] The invention relates to a jacket (2) for an electrical welding cable. In order to provide the jacket with good torsional and bending flexibility as well as form strength at high internal pressures, a surrounding reinforcement layer (9) of warp-knit type which is known per se is vulcanized into the rubber jacket (2), and in the radial direction outside said reinforcement layer, one or more unidirectionally helically wound reinforcing cords (10) are vulcanized into the rubber jacket, the spacing between adjacent cord windings measuring in the longitudinal direction of the jacket about 2-8 mm, preferably about 4 mm.
