[origin: WO8304237A1] Apparatus for automatically advancing a carrier tape (1) bearing a row of closely arranged mutually sequential self-adhesive labels (2) for accurately placing one label at a time in a position intended for printing the label and/or for applying the label to an article. The carrier tape (1) is drawn forwards with the aid of a motor-driven feed means (3, 4) which is arranged to temporarily halt the tape each time the tape is advanced through a distance corresponding to the length of a label (2). Along the path travelled by the tape (1) between a storage reel and the feed means (3, 4) is a freely rotatable roller (11), over which the tape is arranged to pass. The roller is arranged to be driven by the tape (1), without slipping or sliding, means (13) being arranged for sensing the rotary movement of the roller and, in response thereto, to deliver a control signal for stopping the feed means (3, 4) each time the roller has rotated through a distance corresponding to the length of a label (2). The invention also relates to a method for advancing labels.

Dispositif d'avance automatique d'une bande de support (1) portant une rangée d'étiquettes auto-adhésives (2) disposées les unes à la suite des autres de manière rapprochée, permettant de placer une étiquette à la fois dans une position d'impression de l'étiquette et/ou d'appliquer l'étiquette sur un article. La bande de support (1) défile vers l'avant à l'aide d'organes d'avance motorisés (3, 4), agencés de manière à arrêter momentanément la bande chaque fois que celle-ci avance sur une distance correspondant à la longueur d'une étiquette (2). Sur le chemin parcouru par la bande (1) entre une bobine de stockage et les organes d'avance (3, 4) se trouve un rouleau tournant librement (11), sur lequel passe la bande. Le rouleau est entraîné par la bande (1) sans glissement, un organe (13) permettant de détecter le mouvement rotatif du rouleau et de produire, en réponse à ce mouvement, un signal de commande provoquant l'arrêt des organes d'avance (3, 4) chaque fois que le rouleau tourne sur une distance correspondant à la longueur d'une étiquette (2). L'invention se rapporte également à un procédé d'avance d'étiquette.
