[origin: US4549817A] An electrical component such as a transformer winding or choke coil is placed in a forced cooling circuit containing circulation pumps and coolers for a cooling medium and is subjected to forced circulation cooling. The thermal monitoring apparatus comprises a container housing therein a thermal sensor surrounded by a thermosensor winding. The container is connected by respective branch lines to the forced cooling circuit either upstream or downstream with respect to the circulation pumps. Cooling medium flows through the transformer or choke coil in the forced cooling circuit and through the branch lines leading to the container. Each branch line is provided with an equivalent hydraulic resistance of the transformer winding and the cooler. The thermosensor winding is connected to a current transformer which is supplied with a current which is proportional to the current flowing through the transformer or choke coil.

Zur Überwachung des thermischen Zustandes von Großtransformatoren ist es bekannt das sogenannte "Thermische Abbild" zu verwenden. Einem Temperaturfühler im heißesten Öl wird mittels einer Heizwicklung der rechnerische hot-spot Temperatursprung Wicklung-Öl überlagert. Bei dieser Methode wird nur der Endwert des Temperatursprunges richtig angezeigt, nicht jedoch der tatsächliche Temperaturverlauf bei Laständerung im Bereich von zwei bis drei Wicklungs-Zeitkonstanten. Aufgabe der Erfindung ist es eine derartige Einrichtung zu schaffen. Diese Einrichtung zur thermischen Überwachung von Transformatoren und Drosselspulen mit erzwungener Umlaufkühlung insbesondere Ölumlaufkühlung und erzwungener Strömung des Kühlmediums durch die Wicklung, umfaßt ein Gefäß das mit Kühlmedium gefüllt ist und eine einen Thermofühler umgebende Wicklung aufweist wobei diese Wicklung über einen Stromwandler mit einem dem Strom der Transformatorenwicklung proportionalen Strom gespeist ist. Gemäß der Erfindung ist das Gefäß (5) von einem Teil des aus dem Kessel (1) über eine Umwälzpumpe (3) und einem Kühler (4) geführte Kühlmedium gespeist. Die Abzweigung für dieses Kühlmedium ist vor oder nach der Umwälzpumpe (3) und vor dem Kuhler (4) vorgesehen.
