For the automatic monitoring of carbon brushware in electrical machines it is proposed that the carbon brush (11) be mechanically coupled to a ferromagnetic screen (24). At a predetermined usage length of the carbon brush (11) the screen (24) pushes itself between a magnet (28) and a reed switch (29) located in the magnetic field of the magnet (28). As a result of the weakening of the magnetic field at the position of the reed switch (29), this carries out a switching function. The switching function triggers a warning signal or results in the disconnection of the electrical machine. <IMAGE>

Zur automatischen Überwachung des Kohlebürsteverschleißes elektrischer Maschinen wird vorgeschlagen, die Kohlebürste (11) mechanisch mit einem ferromagnetischen Schirm (24) zu koppeln. Bei einer vorgegebenen Abnützlänge der Kohlebürste (11) schiebt sich der Schirm (24) zwischen einen Magneten (28) und einen im Magnetfeld des Magneten (28) befindlichen Reedschalter (29). Durch die Abschwächung des Magnetfeldes am Ort des Reedschalters (29) führt dieser eine Schaltfunktion aus. Die Schaltfunktion löst ein Warnsignal aus oder bewirkt das Abschalten der elektrischen Maschine.
