[origin: ES276817U] Temperature controllers (1) limit the temperature of electric apparatuses by automatically opening the circuit and are supposed to come back to the initial position only after a substantial temperature change has occurred. In the case of an overheating of the receiver (9), the contact (5') fixed to the bimetal strip (5) is separated from the countercontact (4) and adopts an open position which cuts off the current through the contact arrangement. In the case of unremedied fault sources, there is a danger of fusion of the temperature controller contacts caused by the frequent switchings, the so called "regulation cycles". In order to avoid the reswitching on, the contact arrangement is shunted while it is in an open position by means of a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) resistance (6). The opening position is maintained until the consumer (9) is manually disconnected.

Temperaturwächter (1) begrenzen die Temperatur elektrischer Geräte durch selbsttätiges Öffnen des Stromkreises und sollen sich erst nach wesentlicher Temperaturänderung wieder zurückstellen. Dabei hebt beim Auftreten einer Überhitzung des Verbrauchers (9) der an dem Bimetallstreifen (5) befestigte Kontakt (5') vom Gegenkontakt (4) in eine geöffnete Stellung ab, wodurch der Stromfluss durch die Kontaktanordnung unterbrochen wird. Bei nicht behobenen Fehlerquellen besteht durch häufiges Schalten, «Reglertakten» genannt, die Gefahr eines Verschweissens von Kontakten des Temperaturwächters. Zur Vermeidung eines Wiedereinschaltens wird daher vorgesehen, dass während der geöffneten Stellung die Kontaktanordnung durch den PTC-Widerstand (6) überbrückt wird. Die geöffnete Stellung wird so lange beibehalten, bis der Verbraucher (9) von Hand abgestellt wird.
