Additional device for a machine vice (50) provided with two clamping jaws (12, 13), said device comprising sealed pressure members (40, 45, 45a - 45d ) acting in piston-like manner in a casing block (30, 30a - 30d ) and which are automatically adjustable in the latter with respect to the workpiece to be fixed counter to the restoring force of a displaceable hydraulic fluid, characterized in that the individual pressure member (40, 45, 45a - 45d ) is constructed in one piece and square or rectangular with rounded corners in profile cross-section and is displaceably guided in a chamber (36, 37, 37') of casing block (30, 30a - 30d ) constructed corresponding to the pressure member profile cross-section, the clamping surface (42, 47, 47a - 47d ) facing the workpiece (25) to be fixed is constructed corresponding to the pressure member profile corss-section and is larger than the remaining casing block surface surrounding the individual pressure members, the circumference of the individual pressure member (40, 45, 45a - 45d ) is sealed in the chamber (36, 37, 37') with a packing (41, 46) inserted in a slot (48) and for obtaining an optimum, sealing pressing effect the slot depth (t2 ) in the vicinity of the rounded corners (R) is somewhat less than the slot depth (t1 ) on the facing straight sides of the individual pressure member (40, 45, 45a - 45d ).
