Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0115840A1] 1. A method of bending hollow metal section members, more particularly for door and window frames, into semicircular arches, in which a sectional rod (11) is clamped against a bending core (2) placed on the faceplates (1) of a faceplate bending machine and determining the bending radius, after which the faceplates are rotated and externally acting bending rollers (13, 14) press against and guide the sectional rod (11) and place it against the bending core (12), characterised in that before the faceplates begin to rotate, a first bending roller (13) immediately adjacent the station and therefore near the actual bending region (12) is applied under slight pressure to the clamped sectional rod (11), and a second bending roller (14) outside the bending region is pressed against the as yet unbent portion of the rod entering the bending region and presses it out of alignment, the resulting prestressing moment on the sectional rod (11) being absorbed by a clamping decisive (5) disposed at the outlet side.
