The weaving machine contains a main drive (8) at which are connected a weaving reed (14) and a filling thread inserting element (16). In addition, an auxiliary drive shaft (46) is connected at the main drive (8), which auxiliary drive shaft (46) drives the warp let-off apparatus (2), the fabric take-up apparatus (4) and the shedding apparatus (6). A common drive shaft (66) of the warp let-off apparatus (2) and of the fabric take-up apparatus (4) is connected with the auxiliary drive shaft (46) via a reversing gear unit (10). The reversing gear unit (10) is constructed as a superimposed gear unit and contains an auxiliary motor (90) in order to superimpose a reverse rotational movement of the warp let-off apparatus (2) and the fabric take-up apparatus (4). Bei der Webmaschine werden Kettfäden (24) von einer Kettablassvorrichtung (2) über eine Fachbildevorrichtung (6) zu einer Warenabzugsvorrichtung (4) geführt. Die Webmaschine enthält einen Hauptantrieb (8), an dem ein Webblatt (14) und ein Schussfadeneintragorgan (16) angeschlossen sind. Weiter ist an dem Hauptantrieb (8) eine Nebenantriebswelle (46) angeschlossen, die die Kettablassvorrichtung (2), die Warenabzugsvorrichtung (4) und die Fachbildevorrichtung (6) antreibt. Eine gemeinsame Antriebswelle (66) der Kettableassvorrichtung (2) und der Warenabzugsvorrichtung (4) ist über ein Rückschaltgetriebe (10) mit der Nebenantriebswelle (46) verbunden. Das Rückschaltgetriebe (10) ist als Ueberlagerungsgetriebe ausgebildet und enthält einen Hilfsmotor (90), um der Kettablassvorrichtung (2) und der Warenabzugsvorrichtung (4) eine rückläufige Drehbewegung überlagern zu können. Eine elektronische Steuervorrichtung (12), die mit der Fachbildevorrichtung (6) und dem Rückschaltgetriebe (10) verbunden ist, ermöglicht bei vorwärtslaufender Webmaschine ein Zurückschalten des Webprogrammes.
